  1. Everywhere looked utterly mind-blowing, from the terra cotta warriors, to Shanghai at night, to some of the smaller restaurants, markets, and people you met. As always, great photography.

    A few questions though:
    1. Why were those fellows carrying supplies up the mountain, was that the restocking method for some sort of tourist store at the top?

    2. Who was that fellow on the rock in picture 119, did he just say he would go up on the rock and pose or did you find him up there already?

    3. Was there a big tourist market for communist propaganda or did they sell it much as they would say American Flag apparel in the US?

  2. 1) Yes, the supplies were for the few stores and food places on the mountain. There were also a few temples as well. They also carried trash down the mountain as well.

    2) Friendly guy I met there. He went up by himself to pose for pictures.

    3) They sold it everywere. You could buy Mao books and flags at any street market in China.

  3. Thumbs up for the good effort! I get to see snapshots of interesting food and places through the eyes of one man, they call sensei.

Here are some comments and recommendations:

    1) Scorpions are delicious, and if you got the guts the next time, you should also try the lizards, roaches, grasshoppers, beetles, and snails among other exotic chinese fare. In all my life, I’d only tried flying ants, which tastes like pop corn.

    2) Chinese people are very practical, and so you noticed. Parents go to great lengths to send their kids to acrobatic lessons, music classes, and even trick shops, so they grow up skillful and wise!

    3) The girl penning down kanji is actually stringing chinese poems into a masterful show-piece, though I cant read the characters from the angle you took the photo.
